Backstage at LFW – Marios Schwab
Backstage at any fashion show is best described as mayhem; there are models, make up artists, hair stylists, nail technicians, camera crews, journalists – oh yes, and rails of clothes!
Marios Schwab was no different. Showing his Autumn Winter collection at Somerset House The Style Edit headed backstage to get the lowdown on this seasons make up trend.
Make up artist in charge – Val Garland described the look – ‘As natural as possible, almost like faces are scrubbed.’
Eyebrows were brushed up, lips were matte and the skin was flawless. The eyes were swiped with a colour Val describes as ‘a dirty brick’ with a slight sheen. ‘The overall look is groomed, invisible, no make up, make up,’ she concludes.
The overall look is groomed, invisible, no make up, make up
To recreate the look here’s our handy ‘how to’:
- Skin: Sheerly apply MAC Face + Body over the face, concealing where needed.
- Eyes: Blend MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Groundwork across the eyelid blending in a touch of gloss for sheen.
- Lashes: Curled, no mascara and brows groomed and set
- Cheeks: Small amount of MAC Cremeblend Blush in Ladyblush, buffed into the skin.
- Lips: MAC Lip Conditioner
As you can see below, I tried the look myself, whilst I missed mascara (I felt practically naked without it!) I loved the natural yet groomed look and will definitely be reintroducing Groundwork to my eye make up repertoire, I love it!
The hair at Marios Schwab was undone, lightly textured and either down or tied into a loose, low pony. It is a very relaxed style that looks amazing on the runway.
The overall look is very undone and very wearable – it screams weekend to me, and I can really see me embracing ‘no make up make up’, however the hair may be a step to far for me, I like my glossy, groomed style and fear I could look more bed head than textured, which would get me out of the house quicker in the morning but not a look I think I could pull off too regularly!
